The recent call for equity and fairness in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency as espoused by one Eze Onwenna in his piece, ” A WAKE-UP CALL FOR EQUITY IN ANIOCHA/ OSHIMILI 2027″, is quite interesting and timely, but with a tint of sowing seeds of discord and disunity in the political determination of the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency of Delta State.
Yes, there is always the need to continue to balance representation in the area, particularly with the 2027 elections approaching; however, it is essential to prioritise constituency development , growth and choice.
The people of Aniocha/Oshimili deserve representatives who understand their needs and have proven track records in the delivery of democratic benefits, not minding which local government or town the individual is from..
Given the shift to an APC state in Delta State, it is likely that the political landscape would be dominated by the ruling party. In this context, Aniocha’s experience and influence could be leveraged upon to secure democratic benefits for the constituency.
With the right candidates and strategy, Aniocha’s could capitalize on this momentum to drive development and growth in the constituency, but that does not stop any Oshimili candidate from presenting his or her agenda for consideration by the electorate.
Rather than considering leaving APC for any other party in the state as has always been the case,, Oshimili could explore other political positions to balance equity and fairness. This approach would allow them to maintain their party affiliation while pursuing their interests. It is crucial for Oshimili politicians to prioritise the welfare of their people and work towards a more equitable distribution of opportunities.
The writer’s focus on Aniocha’s political dominance in the constituency might be due to the unique dynamics in the area and the need for balanced representation. However, insinuating that Aniocha appears to be arm twisting Oshimili in producing representatives is far from being honest and could create unnecessary disharmony and distrust among the people, erstwhile considered as one indivisible entity.
By acknowledging Aniocha’s contributions, instead of tacitly casting selfish tendencies on the people and their potential, a more equitable distribution of opportunities in the constituency could be amicably worked out.
The people of Aniocha/Oshimili must prioritise merit, accessibility and competence in selecting their representatives for responsive and accountable representation. Aniocha’s experience and influence are valuable assets for the constituency, and maintaining party affiliation is crucial in the current political determination of the area.
While acknowledging the need for paradigm shift in the political considerations in the constituency, caution and efforts should be constantly geared towards maintaining the unity and binding love existing among the political gladiators in the area, rather than inflaming the fire that could possibly burn off the cord which is currently holding them together as an entity.
